I haven’t been particularly interested in tracking all of these songs down (yet). In some cases these closely follow the musical template of Prince’s demo (‘Manic Monday’ being the most famous example). Gifted Songs - Then there are a bunch of Prince songs which were given away, or first recorded by artists other than Prince, but which have no (or minimal) recording involvement from Prince. Paisley Strays - Same deal: songs written, produced and performed by Prince, with a guest vocalist, though in this case they comprise one-off tracks, or less than half an album. I've discovered some really great music (and a fair bit of dross!) but it's been a great way to hear 'new' Prince music since his death. Some time last year, I started trying to fill in the gaps with the masses of material Prince wrote and recorded but didn't release under his own name(s), and I'm just about seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
